Swiss lever escapement, including the anchor-shaped pallet and escape wheel

A Swiss lever is a concept in watch movements.

The Swiss lever escapement is now by far the most common watch escapement. It falls into the category of “free anchor escapements”, as the balance wheel oscillates “freely” after leaving the anchor, in contrast to, say, the Graham escapement. There the regulator (in this case the pendulum, not the balance) is always in contact with the escape wheel.
