Renaud et Papi

Renaud et Papi is a watch supplier.

Renault & Papi was founded in 1986 by Dominique Renaud and Giulio Papi, two former employees of Audemars Piguet. The company is a supplier of complications in the demanding sector.

The former name was “Manufacture d'Horlogerie Renaud et Papi SA”. In 1992 Audemars Piguet acquired a controlling interest of 52% in the company and began to relocate research and development in the field of complex watch movements to Le Locle. As Renaud left the company, Audemars Piguet increased the shareholding to now 78%.

But Audemars Piguet (Renaud et Papi), in short APRP, still continues to work for other brands such as Richard Mille, where they are responsible for the development and production of the most elaborate concepts such as tourbillons, chronographs with tourbillons, transparent movement structures etc. Papi had worked together with Richard Mille in the 1990s and developed models with tourbillon.

Meanwhile, the innovative company has grown to about 150 employees, whose average age with about 30 years speaks for itself.

At the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève Giulio Papi was twice awarded the prize in the category Best watchmaker / watch developer, last time in 2008.

Renaud et Papi developed many notable complications, and helped the resurgence of mechanical watches in the 1980s. This includes the minute repeater of the famous IWC Grande Complication. Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey, noted watchmakers and founders of Greubel Forsey, worked with Renaud and Papi in the early 1990s.
