The new Geneva-based company, Urwerk, launched the company's initial product line in 1997 at the World Watches, Clocks and Jewelry Fair in Basel. They presented two similar models UR-101 was presented in yellow gold and UR-102 in stainless steel. Both watches have a similar wandering hours display of time Jumping hours are displayed through an aperture in a disc that travels a 120º arc to indicate the quarters and half-hours. Both watches also feature novel plain cases with unmarked centers. This would form the basis for future “Ur-Satellite” models from Urwerk and would become the company's signature complication.
Unlike following models, UR-101 and UR-102 featured an automatic movement operating at a frequency of 28,800 A/h. Power reserve was 44 hours.
The UR-101 and UR-102 were replaced by the UR-103, introduced in 2003.
