The ratchet (or click) is part of the watch movement.
In watches with spring drive the ratchet is used in the winding to prevent a turning back of the barrel, and therefore the self-relaxation of the mainspring. It consists essentially of the ratchet wheel, the click or ratchet and the click spring.
