Nickel silver (or German Silver, new silver or alpacca; French Cuivre blanc or Maillechort, German Neusilber)
is an alloy of nickel (12 to 25%), copper (47 to 65%) and zinc (10 to 40%), which has a good corrosion resistance and is used also for watch cases. It provides a better robustness than brass. Nickel lends the material nickel silver the feature of little oxidation. Therefore a galvanic postprocessing of the material is unneeded — it can be left “natural”.
