In 1883 Gottlieb Hauser, a watchmaker from the city of Winterthur, founds the “Kooperation der Schweizer Uhrmacher” (cooperation of the Swiss watchmakers) - later called “Alpina - Union Horlogère”. The aim of his initiative is to reduce, with the help of a buying group, the price of the necessary components for watchmaking.
