• Antoine Norbert de Patek travels to New York to visit Charles Lewis Tiffany, beginning over a century of collaboration between Patek Philippe and Tiffany.
• The US-american watch company Waterbury Clock is founded in the Naugatuck River Valley, which was the stronghold of US watchmakers in the 19th century. Later this company becomes the famous watch brand Timex.
