The Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon (FHF) is founded in Fontainemelon by Isaac and David Benguerel together with Julien and François Humbert-Droz under the name “Benguerel & Humbert. It is the first raw movement manufacturer of the world.
During the French Revolution it is attempted to introduce the decimal time, counting time in decimal units. This fails, however, because of the lack of acceptance by the population.
