  *  The German master watchmaker [[Gerd-Rüdiger Lang]] founds, on the peak of the [[quartz crisis]], a studio for mechanical watches in Munich, which later becomes the company [[Chronoswiss]]. 
  *  On 30 November 1982, the new [[Breitling|Breitling Montres SA]], lead by [[Ernest Schneider]], is officially registered. He had purchased the brand from the family just before [[Willy Breitling]]'s death in [[1979]].
  *  [[IWC]] introduces the [[Porsche Design]] [[diver's watch]], which can withstand dives to 2,000 meters.
  *  [[Oris]] is spun out of [[ASUAG]], which also sells [[Eterna]] to [[PCW]].
