+**Hercules** is a Swiss watch brand.
+The former Hercules watches were produced by Henzi & Pfaff in [[Pforzheim]], Germany.
+In [[1953]] the Austrian Hermann Buhl was the first to reach the summit of the Narga Parbat (8.126 m) in the Himalaya and had a Hercules on his wrist.
+As many watch companies producing mechanical watches Henzi & Pfaff had to terminate their manufactory due to the [[quartz crisis]].
+[[2022]] the brand was revived by the young Dutch watchmaker Adriaan Trampe, who had  worked at [[Rolex]] and also briefly with the [[McGonigle]] brothers. In [[2016]] he revived the German watch company [[Eza Watches]].
+The first new watch presented by Hercules has two variants: the HP1 with white dial and the technically identical HP2 with snow effect dial.
+The marketing recalls the history of mountaineering, especially the thrilling attempts to climb the Nanga Parbat (31 people had died trying to make the first ascent), and associates it to the new model. As a special feature the height lines of the Nanga Parbat mountains are engraved in the movement, which can be viewed through the sapphire caseback. The lines are filled with SuperLuminova, creating a magical effect in the dark.
