In faceting surfaces are provided with facets, ie flat-surface bevelled edges are generated by oblique grinding, which leads to desired refractions. (The best known example is probably the processing of precious stones.)

The most common example in watches are faceted hands, which are alongside, and starting from the center, formed sloping on both sides.
