====== Lang, Gerd-Rüdiger ====== **Gerd-Rüdiger Lang** is a German contemporary watchmaker and founder of the watch manufacturer Chronoswiss. ===== Founder and owner of Chronoswiss ===== Gerd-Rüdiger Lang was born in 1943 in Braunschweig, Germany. He learned the watchmaker's craft in his hometown at the watches shop Jauns from 1958 to 1961. After two years of journeyman work at the firm Gross in Burg/Fehmarn Lang in 1964 moved to the stopwatch and chronograph manufacturer Heuer in Biel. During the seventies Lang also worked in other industries (participation in the film "Le Mans", timekeeping at the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 and at various Formula 1 races). In 1980 he graduated from the Master School in Würzburg and in 1981 founded a special workshop for chronographs in Munich. In addition to repairs, so-called "retro" models, that is modern mechanical wristwatches in the design of the classical models of earlier decades, were made. Their dials adorned, next to the name of the manufacturer, also the word "Chronoswiss". The first transfer of the principle of the regulator display on wristwatches in the model Régulateur became legendary. In 1983 Lang presented his first mechanical chronograph "Chronoswiss" to the public and founded the eponymous watch company. In Summer 2011 Lang withdrew from the management of Chronoswiss for reasons of age. The brand was sold to an Swiss owner at the end of 2011. ===== Work as book author ===== Lang ist also known as author of specialist books on chronographs. ===== Works ===== * Chronographen, Armbanduhren, Callwey (1992) * Zeitzeichen.
