  *  The [[manufacture]] [[Vacheron Constantin]] celebrates its 250-year anniversary -- it was founded in [[1755]]. For this reason, in addition to three other new releases, the [[Vacheron Constantin Tour de L'Ile|Tour de L'Ile]] is presented an extremely valuable and elaborate watch which unites many [[complication]]s. Furthermore, the first edition of the later continued series [[Vacheron Constantin Métiers d'Art|Métiers d'Art]] is presented, which comprises models of elaborate [[enamel]] or gold engraving and impresses by an unusual time display via digital discs. This model wins the "Aiguille d'Or" Grand Prix at the [[Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève]] in November.
  *  Award-winning movement specialist [[Chronode]] is established in [[Le Locle]] by [[Jean-François Mojon]].
  *  [[Wempe]] restores the [[Glashütte Observatory]] and installs there a permanent establishment for watches, as well as an independent [[Chronometer certification|chronometer testing facility]].
  *  In April 2005, the luxury brand [[Hublot]], based in Nyon on Lake Geneva, causes a furor with a real big bang [[Hublot Big Bang|Big Bang]] is the new [[chronograph]] by Hublot, created by the former director and co-owner of the brand [[Blancpain]] [[Biver, Jean-Claude|Jean-Claude Biver]]. 
  *  The [[Glashütte]] manufacturer [[Nomos]] brings out the model [[Nomos Tangomat|Tangomat]] with its inhouse produced [[self-winding]] movement, first as a test watch, then as the official sale. The movement has been constructed by the 29 years young [[Heyne, Mirko|Mirko Heyne]]. At the same time also the Nomos [[manual winding]] movements are converted to self-production. The company can therefore call itself a true [[manufacture]].
  *  [[Parmigiani]] Fleurier presents the first watch whose case is made of [[palladium]] 950.
